Financial Controller - San Diego, CA

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Incumbent prepares all periodic accounting and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and tax regulations.
  2. He/she will be responsible for monthly financials and analysis, including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flow, and other detailed analysis as necessary.
  3. The Financial Controller will manage the Accounting and Finance Department to include A/R, A/P, G/L, fixed assets, payroll, and inventory control functions.
  4. He/she will implement formal financial policies, systems procedures for all facets of the company’s financial systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; monitor compliance, and make improvements as necessary.
  5. Establish systems and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, monitor compliance, and recommend and implement internal control systems to safeguard the assets of the company.
  6. Financial Controller will prepare necessary financial information for regulatory requirements, including government contract reporting and public information reporting.
  7. Incumbent will assist in maintaining integrated accounting (CRM) systems, including the verification of transactions as they pertain to the general ledger; establish and maintain cost of goods sold, and compare operating plan and standards.
  8. The Financial Controller will work on all tax-related issues and any future audit.
  9. Ability to develop, recommend and implement procedures according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  10. Train, motivate, and develop finance and accounting staff.
  11. Identify critical issues and recommend solutions to address executive concerns.
  12. Communicate effectively and diplomatically with external customers of company personnel, both verbally and in writing.
  13. Perform other duties as may be assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and thorough understanding of internal accounting controls.
  2. 5-8 years accounting experience, CPA preferred.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, develop and motivate others.
  4. Principles and practices of policy development and implementation
  5. Pertinent local, State and Federal laws, rules and regulations
  6. Budgeting administration procedures and techniques.
  7. Principles and practices of supervising and training.
  8. Organization and time management skills.
  9. Working knowledge of PRIORITY, SLX or equivalent accounting systems.
